Random Ramblings

Full Disclosure: I'm less than sober at this point (1am) so a lot of this may not make sense, but here's what was missed over the past day plus.

- The CRFC Draft really did go down, and here are the preseason rankings (done by yours truly)

- Speaking of CRFC, I love how TiCal can find the time to get the writeups done before I'm done drinking at the 9s. Excellent work TiCal, but I could use some of those brownies next time, or at least a shout out to let me know you've been using your mom's kitchen.

- I know the Yanks are back in 2nd place, and recently signed some dude, but they're already 6 games back. But in case you haven't noticed, the Sox closing schedule isn't exactly brutal.

- Speaking of the Sox, that Beckett guy finally seems to be pulling his weight.

- I don't know how much longer I can go (I may have just licked the remnants of a delicious brownie sundae off the bowl), but as discussed at length tonight, we're only two weeks away from DL Day (Draft Lottery Day) for the C's. Finally, I've found the offical vitals of one Kevin Durant and he's listed as 6'9", not 6'11" as was reported elsewhere. Now that seems like a huge deal when comparing him to a 'legit' post up scorer like Greg Oden. But is Oden the best option for the C's (or anyone)? TrueHoop takes a slightly closer look.

And that's it for me tonight (this morning). Expect a little Dice K analysis while I twidle my thumbs at work pretending to not care about the much anticipated B1 East team/schedule release. You know you're excited.

CRFC Mock Draft Rd 2

Update: The 2nd Round has been updated, that should have been Phi Slamma not The Big Ticket. Also, the amount of trade talk going around the email chains is ridiculous for a pre-draft day. What will come of it? More than likely, just me getting all my mock drafts wrong

With the first round pretty much screwed by the additions of Tmac, Statey Steve and the Born Gamer, we’re rehashing the first round real quick. Let’s face it, Trevor is an MVP, you can’t teach size (he’s Tall) and Sar is one of the best playoff performs in the entire gym.

Serge – DGall
Mike D – Statey Steve
Rattling AK – Hitman
The Young Republican – Reihl Deihl
Cheese – TMac
RoY – KO
TiCal – The Big Ticket
Tibbs – I am now 95% sure I’m trading down. But for argument’s sake, let’s say I take E Fizzle at this spot

So now that’s settled, let’s take a look at what round 2 has in store. Same order, no snaking until round 3 (which won’t be mocked!) I love the fact that there are enough nicknames to go around...

# 9 Serge – The Born Gamer – How’s he fall to the second round?!? If I trade down, he will, otherwise I’ll be grabbing him @ # 8

# 10 Mike D – Phi Slamma Jamma – Who needs guards with Mike D on the squad?? This presents huge front court matchup problems for everyone in the league. Plus there are plenty of quality guards available in the next 2 rounds. It would be a bold stroke to try and pull off.

# 11 Rattling AK – The Preacher – Tell me, who doesn’t love a 22 and 13 guy?? Attendance was an issue last season, but supposedly the injury is healed, and the Preacher is ready to come back to the court. With these two on the same squad, this will be the loudest team in the league.

# 12 The Young Republican – Salazar – Another guy that drops way to far based on the addition of a couple guys. Paired with the Reihl Deihl, he’s going to get a ton of open looks!

# 13 Cheese – The Alias – Rumor has it that Cheese is looking to move around the draft board to make a run at the Brick this season. So more than likely this spot will be up for grabs. If he stays here, expect a solid big to be taken off the board.

# 14 RoY – Bergman – He needs some size at this spot. The back court is set until the end of the draft. Dude’s new to the league, so it may be a reach, but being 6’3” always bumps your draft stock.

# 15 TiCal – Brady – There are a number of directions for TiCal to go in on this one, but I expect him to draft a little size. Not that I’m calling him short or anything. But you know, as much of a stud as he is, he may want to add some muscle on the inside.

# 16 Tibbs – Slim Shady – I regretted not taking him last season, and I’ll be sure not to make that same mistake again. He’s a very divisive player, especially in pickup, but I personally love playing with Slim. Sure you get the occasional bad shot, but when he’s hitting over 60% from downtown you’re glad he’s on your side and not the other.

Whew....

"I'd just like to take this moment to remind everyone what a greedy ass I am. I fully intend to take the next month to get into 'game shape.' Then, I'll command $4 million a month to struggle against deeper, harder hitting AL lineups. Only the Yanks would be incredibly desperate enough to offer me twice the amount of money as anyone else."

Mock Draft still below, Round 2 coming

CRFC Mock Draft

With the A1 season officially upon us once again (with absolutely no down time) what better way to preview the season than to prep a mock draft to get ready for the real thing tonight. Sure I could have posted this on the message boards, but not everyone has access to those. So deal with it, I needed an entry for today. And yes, I'm aware that this is a mock draft for a rec league, I'm not f'in crazy, yet. Feel free to leave comments below to let me know how much I suck (or how much it's going to suck being stuck with Serge).

#1 Serge - DGall - As soon as the General gets it in his head that someone wants to play on his squad, he will draft/sign them up for his teams until they forcefully quit. Serge's targets have been sent on DGall for the past couple seasons, and it looks like he's going to get another run in with Serge. Let's see if Serge can draft him a team that will win more than a few games this season (doubtful!)

#2 Mike D - KO - This season brings us a couple of new captains, and none more famous than Mike D himself. It's going to be great to be drafted by this guy, as he'll always be sure to pick up the tab from the 9s afterward. What? You win to know if he'll draft a decent team? I have no idea that he knows anyone but KO and JaySar, so I doubt it.

#3 Rattling AK - The Hitman - This one is actually a toss up between the Hitman and the Reihl Deihl. He could go either way, but since he's already sent out the feeler emails to give Jrod the heads up, I think he's going in this direction. Other than the fact that he's decided to name his team Sofa King (What! Huh!?) I've got nothing funny to say. But the headlines are going to be priceless. The Hitman, Sofa King, good as he leads his team to victory

#4 The Young Republican - The Reihl Deihl - With GP out of the league for a season (baby) expect tYR to bring in his old Little Nasty teammate to the fold. It's been a few seasons for tYR without GP, so it make take him a little time to adjust to the idea of a season without him. But in Deihl, he's got a guy that can do it all if he feels like showing up this season. Sure he's had valid excuses last season, but really, who cares? Where are your priorities man!?

#5 Cheese - The Big Ticket - This is the first pick I'm not fairly certain of, and as a result it could screw up the rest of my draft board. But I think that his spot with the rest of the guys in the draft, that the former MVP is a great pick. Cheese always seems to draft character guys that play team ball, and it doesn't get any better than the Big Ticket at this spot.

#6 RoY - E Fizzle - You were thinking that the smallest guy in the draft was going to go big? Well think again. RoY is our other new captain this season, and it looks like he's going to learn the hard way that size does matter, even on the small court. But you can't really blame him for this decision too much (unless you're EF himself) as these two will make the most dynamic backcourt in the league. Told of his impending draft status at #6, E Fizzle only had this response.

#7 TiCal - Salazar - Those coaches really like to stick together, so unless Tical has a ringer hiding in the wings that I don't know about (likely) he'll would do well to escape the first round with such a steal. O'Cal is another guard that has to choose between going big in the first round or getting the best player available. Thankfully for him and RoY there are a number of high quality bigs that will still be available when they pick in the second round. Salazar may be another guy with attendance problems in the past, but if TiCal can motivate him to show up on a weekly basis he's got the foundation of a winner.

#8 Tibbs - ? - Like I was going to announce my pick. Yours truly has a couple things up his sleeve, most notably a potential trade that would get me the hell out of the first round. Do I go size or guard? I think it will be safer if I trade down and let a couple other guys go off the board to make my life a whole lot easier. Note to Danny Ainge: If the C's somehow fall out of the top two picks this season, feel free to shoot me an email and I can further explain the benefits of this strategy.

Ed Note: JaySar and Statey Steve had to go and sign up last minute. Thanks for f'in up my first round fellas!
